Give it to yourself of course.
I’m being 100% serious. You might be asking, what on EARTH does that look like?
You’re going to acknowledge whether you want to love yourself or not. That might sound depressing but in order for this to work, it’s true, you will have to have a desire to love all of yourself, not just parts of it, but ALL of it, including the imperfect parts you may hate.
Journal your thoughts & feelings towards yourself
Start taking notes about how you talk to yourself, or how you think about yourself. It is always negative? Is there any positive in there at all? Is it worse at certain times during the week? Or maybe certain times during the month?
Keep track! This is important because only when you know how frequently and where your thoughts go is key in re-wiring your brain and your thought process. Get a cute journal, something that inspires you to write and start keeping it close. Keep a close eye on those thoughts.
For every negative thought you write, find something positive to say about yourself after it.
This will probably be the hardest thing you will have to do.
It will be hard, I know, and sometimes you might struggle to come up with something but you MUST TRY. That is what I’m asking, that you try.
Accept that it will be hard work, and it will take time.
Like all rewarding accomplishments, it will take time and hard work to rewire your brain to be more positive to yourself. That is totally normal!
The biggest takeaway here is that you accept that, and don’t get discouraged when you have a bad day. Bad days are bound to happen, journal it out!
Take photos of yourself
The only way to get across a hurdle is to face it. If you’re scared of how you look in photos, take photos of yourself, either by you or someone else. Maybe this is the time to book yourself a photo session.
Print them out, put them in your journal, write across the top of them “I LOVE THIS BODY!” “THIS BODY EMPOWERS ME!”
