The process after booking your photographer may not be something you think about. The photographer(s) will show up at your wedding, you'll see photos very quickly after with some sneak peaks, then to receive all and possibly along with a wedding album too! Here is a little more information as to what you can expect after your booking!
If you did not book an engagement session with your photographer - you can skip this section!
Perhaps you scheduled your engagement session right away with your photographer upon booking. However, perhaps you booked in the winter and you want to wait until summer to get your engagement session in. Do not wait too long, especially if your photographer books up really quickly! You can put in a tentative date and change closer to if weather is determining factor.
Once your engagement session has taken place, most photographers put up sneak peaks after a session/wedding. This is standard process and really doesn't take long. Sneak peaks should be up within a week, and for engagement sessions that don't have as many photos as a wedding. You should receive them in 2-3 weeks.
Discussing your timeline
If you have already planned a timeline with your wedding planner, please make sure that the photographer is included in the list of who to give the timeline to. It is also suggested to include the photographer's advice in planning aspects of the timeline (see my other post about timelines here).
Timeline discussion can happen anywhere from 1-2 months before the wedding or earlier.
After the big day
The day is over, you had a spectacular day and now you can relax! You wake up exhausted the next day just hoping that your photographer will have up some sneak peaks! Most photographers are able to put up one or two sneak peaks the day of/after the wedding. However this is not standard process across the board for wedding photographers. You will have to ask your photographer what their timeline is for sneak peaks (sometimes it is in the contract.)
I personally will offer clients a few sneak peaks the day of/after the wedding and in addition to this, will write a full blog post with up to 50 photos summarizing their big day exactly one week or less from their wedding day. It's the biggest day of your life and you are so excited to relive it already through pictures!
I deliver client photos within 4-6 weeks after a wedding. Every photographer has a different delivery standard, it can range from 2 weeks to 6 months. If you are concerned about receiving your photos quickly, be sure to ask at your consultation before booking.
If your package includes a wedding album, your photographer will contact you with a tentative design as well as options for redesign based on your liking. Most photographers will offer 2-3 design changes before sending your album for printing. Make sure that if you hear from your photographer about your album design, that you respond quickly!
The communication and designing of albums can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks.
The album will take a few weeks to print and voila! You will have a beautiful album of your wedding day!
Most photographers will send an email or request for your feedback as that is important for business. They will include a link(s) for you to leave reviews on. If you had a great experience, go and leave a review!!
