I wanted to share a little bit about myself because I recently moved from Canada to the USA and I'm doing a lot of work on my website. I figured, you know what, a lot of my previous clients have asked my history and of course, I always give the 1 sentence condensed story because during their shoot I want to know about them!
My journey with photography started when I got married. The photographer we had for our wedding, his name is Layton Reid, and I have to tell you about him because he is really who inspired me.
Layton poured his personality out wherever he went and whoever he talked to. It was simply impossible to not like him. He was full of compliments, fun, engaging, and he knew how to make you laugh. On our engagement session it was the first time I was in front of a camera professionally and it was just like we were having a party on the beach.
Layton left a permanent lasting impression on me, and this led to my interest in photography. When I got my first DSLR, I thought of him and how he was such an awesome photographer. I wanted to be like that, (creepy perhaps? LOL)
Well, I just started my third year of doing photography and it's been an interesting journey. I got my camera mainly to photograph my knit goods. You may or may not know that I love to knit and I started a knitting shop on Etsy back in 2011 thanks to my husband's encouragement. I sell hand-made knitted hats that are fleece lined. I do everything by hand. I still open it around this time of year.
Having the DSLR camera just made me thirstier for the camera knowledge and how it works, lighting etc. I kept working watching youtube videos (thanks Adorama!) to learn more and more. I then invested in a pro DSLR and started working on a portfolio that expanded outside of just my kids modeling my knit hats. :p
Okay that sounded slightly boring, but in all the shoots I've done, I LOVE photographing weddings. I honestly never thought I would love weddings so much, but I do, and here's why: seeing two people love each other so much to make promises for their entire lives gives me the chills. It warms my heart hearing the love stories of each couple, and why they decided to take this next step in their lives.
I hope you follow me as I continue this photography journey! Please bookmark my page and come back to the blog often for more tips, advice on weddings. :)
